Sanjay Sharma

Sanjay Sharma is the CEO of Orkla India, a portfolio company of the Norwegian investment company Orkla ASA. Orkla India is a collection of leading local Indian food brands that owns iconic heritage brands – MTR and Eastern. It comprises 3 business units – MTR, Eastern, and International Business. 

Currently, based out of Bangalore, Sanjay Sharma has been the CEO of MTR Foods from 2009 to 2022. From 2023, post the establishment of Orkla in India as a distinct entity, he is now the CEO of Orkla India. In the last 15 years, under his leadership, Orkla’s presence in India has grown from INR 2 billion to INR 23 billion organization, and is established as a pioneer in the packaged foods industry. He was instrumental in expanding Orkla’s footprints in India through Eastern’s acquisition in 2021. He is currently on the board of MTR Foods, Rasoi Magic, and Potful Biryani and the Chairman of the Board at Eastern Condiments and Rasoi Magic. 

Sanjay has a rich experience of 3 decades in the food industry. In his earlier stints, Sanjay has worked with some marque companies like Voltas, Colgate Palmolive India, and Dabur Foods Ltd.  At Dabur, he played a pivotal leadership role in developing their food business with brands like Real fruit juices and homemade cooking paste.  

Over the last 30 years, Sanjay has been sharing his valuable insights and perspectives on various matters related to the food industry. He is a National Food Processing Committee member for FICCI and CII. He has also Chaired the FICCI Food Processing Committee in the past.
